Kreidezeit and Auro are German manufacturers of natural paints and coatings. They have taken ancient recipes employing natural materials and updated them. These enhanced products made with lime, casein and clay can be applied on traditional surfaces as well as more modern ones, such as plasterboard. They allow you to paint your walls however you like, from the simplest finishes to the most sophisticated decorative effects, not to mention the exotic tadelakt. These products are natural, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and eco-friendly. German magazine Ökotest, whose reputation is recognized across Europe, has given awards to several of these products after testing them. You can find out more on their website at www.kreidezeit.de and www.auro.de.
The name could be phonetically transcribed as KRAIDEZAIT, all letters being pronounced separately.

Our lime-, casein- and clay-based products are non-toxic. They are recommended for people suffering from allergies, those with hypersensitivity and to anyone who takes their health at heart.
These products have many virtues. Several have long been sought after for their natural properties: they are antiseptic, antifungal and antistatic. They reduce the proliferation of bacteria and mould, and prevent electrostatic charges due to friction, thereby attracting less dust and impeding the development of mites. The products we offer contain no chemical agents, and no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, you still have to consider possible allergies to natural products.
The complete list of ingredients found in our products is available, and we always provide it to our customers. Don’t hesitate to ask for any additional information if you need it.

The manufacturing of our products is environmentally and socially sustainable, taking place in conditions that are respectful of the workers. The raw materials used are renewable, they come directly from nature, and they are altered as little as possible. Our products also minimize the impact on people. In other words, they are healthy for the user, the occupant and for the whole surroundings. They are recyclable, and some can even be composted. These are truly eco-friendly products.

LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED® Canada for Homes is a sustainability certification program, an offshoot of a program started in the United States by the US Green Building Council®, a non-governmental organization. The basic goal is to transform the residential building industry by recognizing best practices in green building. You can learn more about this certification program by visiting the website of the Canada Green Building Council: http://www.cagbc.org/leed/what/index.php. The Kreidezeit products that Tockay distributes were the object of an LEED strategy report. It concluded that, as they contain no VOCs, they comply with the requirements of table 25, allowing their users to get the maximum amount of points in that category. Read the report.(in French).

Öko-Test has tested and given awards to several Kreidezeit products. This independent monthly magazine is recognized in Germany as the most influential green consumer magazine. It has a circulation of 125,000 copies. It contains in-depth articles about lifestyles, consumer goods and equipment, and how they impact on the environment. It is especially well-known for its product testing, which evaluates toxicity, environmental impact and quality-price ratio. The testing protocol and its criteria are outlined in the magazine, and the tests are conducted by an independent laboratory. Öko-Test issues an eco-friendly label, to be displayed on the products that it recommends. Its influence on German consumers is considerable, so much so that manufacturers frequently make changes to a product if it fails a test, whether due to its quality or to the manufacturing process.
